Rugby Challenge Won’t Be Released In Europe Before World Cup Starts

It was revealed on the official Rugby Challenge Facebook page that Rugby Challenge won’t be released in Europe in time for the Rugby World Cup.

A rumor suggested that the game would be released on September 8th in the UK/Ireland/Wales. This is not the case as here’s what was posted on the Facebook page:

“To quell the rumours- release in the UK/Ireland/Wales will not be on the 8/9 September 2011.”

Rugby fans will know that the Rugby World Cup officially kicks off on September 9th with New Zealand facing off against Tonga in the opening match as Eden Park.

Sadly, European and North American gamers won’t be able to play Rugby Challenge to celebrate the start of the Rugby World Cup 2011.

Rugby Challenge is however already available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. A PC release date for the game is to be announced at a later date.

Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky Review

Atelier-Escha-Logy-1-515x222

While it may not have the name recognition of some other games in the RPG genre, the Atelier series from GUST has maintained a steady release schedule on PlayStation platforms since its first game back in 1997 on the original PlayStation. We have seen side games on other platforms, but Sony has managed to keep all of the mainline games on their own consoles over the years. That has not changed as our latest release is the next entry in the mainline series, exclusively for the PlayStation 3, known as Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky.

Atelier-Escha-Logy-7-890x606

Unlike past games, when you first start up the game you must pick between two characters named Logix “Logy” Fiscario and Escha Malier. Whichever of the two characters you pick will be the one you control for the rest of the game, so it is a pretty big decision. However, the one you do not pick will still be with you throughout the game, just as your companion. The character interactions are specific to each one, but overall there is not much difference in the two, other than these interactions and the inability to move your chosen character from the front line in formations prior to battle.

Escha is your younger option as a resident of Corseit, she knows her away around and handles most of the synthesizing you will do in the Atelier. Logy is the new guy in town that joins the team with Escha, both as alchemists. Coming from an area known as Central City, Logy is the more veteran alchemist, but is from a much more advanced city than the small town of Corseit. Both characters have distinct personalities that set themselves apart, though still falling under some typical genre stereotypes.

Atelier-Escha-Logy-11-515x289

As you play through the game, you will gain new party members as the story brings them into play. These include Escha’s brother Awin, as well as Threia, Reyfer, Lucille, and even the returning character Linca. They each have their own unique attack style, such as the very different use of earrings to attack with Threia. These are further brought out by the special supports, which will be discussed later.

Taking perhaps only a minor element of a lot of other games in the genre, the Atelier series has always had a major focus on alchemy and that is certainly no different here. However, it is definitely not a carbon copy of past games. While past entries in the franchise has had a major focus on alchemy, with combat only being more of a side note, this one splits the experience almost down the middle between the two. These two are intermixed through the use of assignments from your superior Marion, who also returns from a prior entry in the series.

Atelier-Escha-Logy-10-515x289

For every reporting period, you will have one main assignment to complete, such as to investigate why the source of an entire village’s water supply has dried up. These will be more story oriented while the rest of your assignments are like sidequests, such as having to gather a certain number of gathering a certain number of items per period or synthesizing a certain number of items. Many of these assignments are completed by moving across the world map, which is setup almost like a board game with you moving all around spaces to get to new locations. In each of these locations you will be doing two things, gathering items and fighting enemies.

Atelier-Escha-Logy-4-515x289

This leads to one of my biggest complaints of Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky, the repetitiveness found from doing a lot of this. While there are some advancements and variations, most of the time you will be going to and from each of these locations and then defeating the four or so sets of enemies and collecting the four or five items in each and move to the next. It would have served better if there was some sort of difference between them, but it’s a lot of the same. However, while repetitive, it can still be quite fun thanks to a fantastically complex fighting system.

Atelier-Escha-Logy-6

At the start of the game, the combat is very simplistic, but it gradually gets more and more complex the further you get. With only three party members and only basic attacks, you will mostly just be attacking back and forth with enemies while getting the hang of the biggest part of the gameplay, known as the support system. With this, you can choose to string together support attacks on top of regular attacks or defend your party members from enemy attacks. This requires a lot of strategy, which is even further enhanced with the special support attacks later that are unique to each character. The really neat thing about the support system is you can choose how you want to use it, as you can pick whether you want to stick to all offensive, all defensive, or a balance of the two.

Atelier-Escha-Logy-9-515x289

Another key to battle, which brings more strategy into the picture as well, is the formation setup. Prior to battle, you can setup your formations in almost anyway you please. Your chosen protagonist, either Logy or Escha, will always remain in the front row, unless changed in actual battle, but the rest can be switched around how you please. The three characters in the front will be the ones attacking the most, so it might be a good idea to put your strongest there to start off, but you have the option to choose what you want to do.

As previously mentioned, alchemy is a major part of this game and just like the combat, it grows as you get further in the game. At the start, the alchemy is pretty simplistic with the basic adding of ingredients to make other items, with little experimentation possible. However, as you branch out on the world map, you will find an abundance of ingredients that can be used in a variety of different recipes. Some of these items you will make are just used for other alchemy recipes, while some of them can be used in battle, like bombs. At first, you will only have the cauldron for basic synthesis, but later you gain access to the ability to imbue weapons and dismantle items down to their raw materials. Alchemy gets very addictive fast and is going to keep you coming back again and again.

Atelier-Escha-Logy-3-515x289

Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky’s graphical style just feels right for this type of game. The characters all have unique character designs and look great, even with a somewhat lack of actual animation of them, as most interactions are simple conversations. The backgrounds look good as well, but are a little lackluster most of the time with none of them really standing out beyond the city of Corseit. The music also fit the setting of the game quite well, with some tracks actually reminding me of those from both the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts series.

Atelier-Escha-Logy-5-515x289

For those coming to this game expecting an epic story like that seen in the Final Fantasy series, you are definitely in the wrong place. Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky provides a more quaint story, that features more on the characters interactions with one another than anything else. There is no main antagonist who will be at your throats the entire game, but you will come across conflicts in your new job in the town.

If you have never played any prior games in the Atelier series, do not let that turn you away from trying out this latest entry. While many elements are similar and even a couple characters make reappearances, this title is mostly a standalone experience. The main characters, as well as most others, are completely new to the series. As a result, those new to the series would know just as much about what is going on as those who have played games from the series in the past. The only disadvantage would really be not knowing the gameplay system and perhaps taking awhile to learn it.

Atelier-Escha-Logy-2-515x290

Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky is a very fun little game that I sadly have a feeling will be missed by many in the sea of other major releases. While the assignment system may get very repetitive at times, we still get a fantastic alchemy and combat system to complement it that will keep you coming back. The support system in battle is very unique and brings a lot of strategy to the battles, rather than mindless attacking back and forth. This one has plenty of content, so you will certainly be busy for quite awhile with this game.As a mostly standalone title, Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky is an excellent jumping on point for those who may be interesting in the Atelier series. For anyone that enjoys a good low-key RPG, this game may be perfect for you.

– Talk to him and you’ll learn that there’s a conspiracy going on in Malkrath.
– He’ll give you a task where you have to uncover who’s behind it all.
First Task: Find evidence about Marget
Second Task: Find evidence about Weylin
It doesn’t matter which one you do first

Find Evidence about Margaret

forsworn03-515x289

– Go to Silver-Blood Inn and talk to Kleppr.
– Ask about Marget
– Kleppr will tell you that Marget has a nice room paid off for a month.

– Reading her diary, you’ll learn that Thonar Silver-Blood is involved in this conspiracy.

Find Evidence about Weylin

forsworn06-515x289

– Go the Warrens, which is located on the lower section of Markrath.
– Talk to Garvey
– Persuade him in giving you the key to Weylin’s room in the Warrens. If you don’t have a high speech skill, simply bribe him.

forsworn07-515x289

– Inside his room, search the chest. You’ll see a note.
– Read the Note. You now have to investigate who N is.

forsworn08-515x289

– When you leave the Warrens, a forsworn mercenary will approach you.
– He’ll tell you to stop going into the business of the Forsworn and Markrath. He’ll challenge you into a brawl.
– Give him enough punches and he’ll tell you that the “N” in Weylin’s note is Nepos the Nose.
– Now that you know who N is, head to Eltrys to receive your reward.

forsworn09-515x289

– Head to Nepos the Nose’s house which is located on the upper section of Markrath.
– When you go inside, his maid will stop you. Persuade her that Nepos the Nose is expecting you.
– Talk to Nepos and you’ll learn that he’s the one that instructed Weylin into killing Marget. More information will also be revealed about the Forsworn and it’s leader. Madanach, who’s locked up in Cidhna Mine.
– At the end of your conversation with him, you’ll have to fight him and the people inside the house.

REPORT BACK TO ELTRYS

forsworn10-515x289

– Inside the Shrine of Talos, Eltrys has been killed by the Markrath guard.
– Approach the guard and LET THEM TAKE YOU to the Cidhna Mine.

Note: At the end of this quest, you’ll unlock another sidequest that will put an end to this conspiracy. Check our Part 2 on this walkthrough.

Borderlands 2: Gearbox Creates More Problems With Krieg

Gearbox Creates More Problems With Krieg
Borderlands 2 has seen a new and flawed Vault Hunter join the adventure for the ultimate score. Krieg the Psycho is a high risk, high reward character that favors melee fighters (or those that like igniting themselves). Besides costing $9.99, there’s a lot wrong with Krieg, and sadly this isn’t a surprise given Gearbox’s recent track record. Continue reading to find out what problems players are facing while roaming Pandora as Krieg.

Early on in the game, you’ll find yourself in the Three Horns-Valley area. Now, if you enjoy completing challenges and earning Badass Points, you’ll be disappointed to learn that Krieg cannot complete the “This Ain’t My First Rodeo” challenge. Why is this? Well, after attempting it countless times, I joked that it must be a weight issue. Little did I know how right I was. Paul Hellquist, Creative Director and Lead Designer for Krieg, had the following to say when the issue began to appear in the community forums:

This is because we made Krieg’s mass heavier than the other characters. The change was so that many of the enemies (notably the loaders) could not create situations where you could not be effective with Krieg’s action skill because they would knock you back so far that you could not get a hit in on them when you closed to melee range.

The unfortunate side effect is that the impulse on the geyser is not enough to get you up as far when you are playing Krieg. It was a trade well worth making since the entire character was frustrating and unfun before this change.

As you can imagine, many readers were not satisfied with this answer, mainly because the mass increase doesn’t only impact this single challenge. There have been reports that given Krieg’s heavier nature, the “Ever Blow Bubbles…?” challenge tucked within Caustic Caverns is impossible. Furthermore, Krieg’s weight has voided the effect of grenade jumping, a trick usable by the rest of the Vault Hunters. While the latter isn’t all that troublesome, the prevention of certain challenges has irked completionists. Do the character design issues stop there? I wish.

It would seem that Krieg’s size is almost as much an issue as his weight. There have been claims that the psyho’s proportions prevent players from finishing the “Slab UHF” challenge as well. More importantly, Krieg’s hit box is, naturally, assumed to be larger which makes him an easier target for enemies. In addition, one could theorize that this could cause issues when trying to dig out the items that fall underneath The Warrior after the battle, as well as dealing with an increased chance in having flying loot deflect off of Krieg and into areas beyond the player’s reach (ex: lava).

Diving further into the new Vault Hunter we find that his skill tree is also suffering some major inconsistencies. His Action Skill, Buzz Axe Rampage, is supposed to apply 500% bonus melee damage. However, recent videos that have surfaced show that the numbers are way off. Tests have been done with the Rapier, which has a melee bonus of 200%, and somehow that boost manages to deal more damage than the claimed 500% Buzz Axe Rampage skill. In addition, roid shields aren’t stacking as expected when active, or so it has been stated. The result is better melee damage when not using Buzz Axe Rampage. So, what gives? Well, it would seem that the real issue lies within the Action Skill’s description itself. One determined forum poster by the name of Tluav Boy revealed this tidbit about the ongoing debate:

BUZZ AXE RAMPAGE doesn’t add +500% to your Base Melee damage as a bonus.

It simply makes your Base Melee Damage 500% whatever it normally is.

You can see how he came to this conclusion by checking his formulas here. I wouldn’t be shocked to find out that Gearbox actually has messed up one of their formulas though. All of the info flowing out of early Krieg adopters seem to be pointing to one important observation: Zer0 is still the better/stronger melee character. Needless to say, Krieg seems to have angered a lot of fans out there for reasons ranging from his Season Pass exclusion to his substantial mass gain. He’s been such a disappointment to some that it has even been said that Krieg is a bigger letdown than Aliens: Colonial Marines, a true video game tragedy. Ouch!

If you’ve spent some time with the psychotic Vault Hunter, let us know what your current stance on the character is in the comment section below!

Skyrim – Acquiring the Daedric Artifact of the Black or Azura’s Star

Click here for more Skyrim Guides
Dragonborns who are seeking powerful artifacts that they can use for their equipments can find the sixteen Daedric Artifacts that are scattered throughout the game.

Each of the artifacts in Skyrim will require you in doing a side mission. While it may sound easy, each of these quests has a requirement in order for you to trigger that quest. Some of the quests that will reward you a Daedric Artifact will require you to be at specific level as some of the bosses you will face will be hard.

Here’s the first artifact that you can get that doesn’t have any prerequisites.

The Azura’s Star

– The first thing that you would need to do to unlock the Azura’s Star quest is to listen to the rumors. A barkeep such as Hulda in Whiterun will give you information on the Shrine of Azura.
– Once you hear the rumor about it, the Shrine of Azura’s location will be on your map. If you don’t like to listen to the rumors, you can simply go there. The Shrine of Azura is located south of Winterhold, near the Mount Anthalor. It’s on the peak of the mountain from Mount Anthalor.

– Now that you’re on top of Azura’s Shrine, you’ll meet a Daedra named Aranea. Talk to her and she’ll mention that she’s been waiting for you. Talking to her will unlock the quest that will begin your hunt for the Azura’s Star.

– Your first mission is to find an elven man named Neclar in the Frozen Hearth Inn in Winterhold. He’s an enchanter and he’ll tell you more about the star.
– Upon talking to him, you’ll learn more about the Azura’s star and will tell you that it’s located in Ilinalta’s Deep.

– The location for the Deep will be on your map. Go there.

– Before you enter the deep, make sure you’re prepared as there are Necromancers and Skeltons waiting to ambush you.

– Inside the deep, there are potions, and other items that you can loot. Don’t forget to take them.

– At the end of this dungeon, you’ll find that the Azura’s Star is broken. Now you’ll have some choices to make…

Want the Azura’s Star or the Black Star

Once you obtained the broken Azura’s Star, you’ll now have to choose whether you like to turn it into a Black Star that recharges using the human souls, or the Azura’s Star where it will recharge by defeating any foes that has a soul.

For the Azura’s Star…

Let Aranea fix it for you.

For the Black Star…

Let Neclar fix it for you.

Face the Boss

Once you pick which one you would like to get in the end, you’ll have to face the boss that’s lurking inside the Star to freely use it.

Inside the Star, you’ll face Malyn. Defeat his minions and eventually kill him to free the star from his curse. Now you can use the Azura’s Star or the Black Star that you get from completing this quest.

Check back with us again soon for the next Daedric Quest guide.
